Heating - Leeds to Sheffield via Moorthorpe
« on: February 07, 2009, 07:30:07 AM »
Glad I found you guys - we need to spread the word!

So, I am trying to get something done about the trains themselves and getting nowhere. My main gripe as it is winter is the heating - or rather the lack of it.

We get the red seat cover trains with two heaters under the seats and the blue seat cover trains with the heaters running the length of the carriage at each side. Sometimes we get the ones with the tables and I have yet to figure where the heaters are.

Whatever sort it is - they do not have the heaters on or they are turned down so the carriages are usually freezing - honestly - you can often see your breath. I ask the conductors to sort it out and they tell me the heating is on full or is broken.

Nobody at Northern has so far answered my question about the heaters. Are they keeping them off or down to save money or are the trains so old they just don't work?

Does anyone have any insight into this?

I am about to send an email as follows:

"Please explain why the trains are so cold with no heating or insufficient heating on the Sheffield to Leeds via Moorthorpe line"

Can't get any more simple or specific can it? I will post the response on here.

working on that line we are aware of the issues on some of the units when it comes to heatin in the winter this effects both passengers and crew alike.

depends on the unit you get it seems that most units we have in our fleet freeze you in the winter and try their damndest to cook you in the summer this is something that is reported via the train defect book.
