Good luck, if you think Northern Rail care about anything you say then you're a complete f*ckwit!

Don't hold your breath waiting for a response.

This is a crazy delay in which the trains to Manchester Victoria were delayed by approx 50- 60 mins, and the selby train (8:02) was delayed by half an hour, which was then CANCELLED as it was clashing with the Leeds (8 36) train... This then lead onto the Leeds train delayed by another 20 or so minutes ..... If they expect us to pay £156.70 or so  for this service then they should pay their roles in turning up on time.. so people who go to work and have lectures actually reach to them on time!!!

I travel daily from Manchester Victoria to Rochdale, in the past week, today in particular the service has been abysmal.

Arrived at Victoria at about 10 to 11, to catch the 11AM train to Leeds, which stops at Rochdale, this had been cancelled, along with all the other trains to Leeds that run on the hour due to a point or signal failure.

Waited for the next train at 21 minutes past, which arrived. Board it at ten past, then waited... And waited, and waited. The train eventually left about about 11:40. No apologies or other announcements were made on the train, if one was made on the platform I didn't hear it and would likely have a hard time actually deciphering it due to the amount of natural reverberation the station has.

One thing of interest was the fact that at about 20 past, I heard a conversation between three platform staff that ran along the lines of 'the driver  wasn't told he was working the 11:21' Then either 'We'll keep it listed but delay it' or 'We'll cancell it and run this as a later train'

At this point I'd have expected an announcement to this effect on the trains tannoy - nothing was said. A few minutes later a member of staff, who looked like he may be a driver walked down the train, so I figured that things would start moving soon. Apparently not.

It would have been pretty useful if they had announced any of the changes or delays or, well anything on the train since their was another train at 28 minutes past I could have caught. As it stands, I got into Rochdale at 11:55, with the tannoy their announcing it as the delayed 11:35 train.

Absolute joke.

Ever since Northern Rail took the seeemingly stupid decision that certain trains should stop at Slaithwaite whereas others should not, there has been confusion on this service, however the particularly vindictive pleasure that the guard took on this service as he told 2 girls, chastising them for not realising was totally uncalled for.

Gurads like this need disciplining - the sooner NR start employing 'mystery passengers' to stamp out poor service amongst their staff, the better.

Come on NR - it's not rocket science - what are you doing to continuously improve how passengers are treated by your staff?

For the last few days, this service has had the shorter length carriages and as a result has been extremely crowded.

Does anyone from Northern rail know why there has been a change to these shorter length carriages recently?

I have made an official complaint by email, but I have done so previously and nothing is ever done.  I did get a polite reply but no promise of a better service.

Everybody can tolerate a late train now and again, or even a broken down one, but there really is no excuse for this.  It doesn't help when the Northern Rail staff are so rude and don't seem to care that you have been inconvenienced.

You are right about the animals - they must have sufficient ventilation and floor area and height appropriate to the size of the animal - rules which obviously do not apply to us mere humans, as my evening train is so packed you cannot breath, and you are so tightly packed it's impossible to even reach in your pocket to answer your mobile phone!

Yet again the 7.25am Huddersfield to Victoria train was full as it got to Mossley this morning, so full that anyone travelling to Ashton was told to leave the train at Stalybridge as the train would not be stoping at Ashton for all those poor souls who never get a seat when they are lucky to get on the train.
Are Northern Rail going to recompence all the people who had to get off at Stalybridge who had to pay for the bus or in the case of my friend a taxi so she ensured she wasn't late for work?

There are rules for transporting animals but apparently not for rail travellers.
When will something be done to improve this third world service?

Hi LeedsPA,

welcome aboard and thanks for adding your feedback for NR. There must be thousands of commuters who just 'put up' with these conditions every day without making a formal complaint to NR - the more people we can get to voice their feelings, the better.
